Don't Stop Climbing

TRYING.png

"I'm just so tired of trying." I sent that text to my husband a few days ago because I was so overwhelmed by my own dreams and goals. He replied: “I know you are. Climbing a mountain is tiring. The air at the top is so refreshing though. You have to keep climbing because you know the peak is coming. Do you remember Pikes Peak? How freaking scary the climb was but how awesome the peak turned out to be? Same thing. Chasing something that's important isn't always easy, but it's always worth it when the calling is from the Creator." And then he sent me a picture of me at the top of Pikes Peak. I cried when I saw it because I remembered the relief and awe I felt as we reached the peak. (Disclaimer: We didn't walk up the mountain. We drove -- and that was hard enough.)The ride up was pretty terrifying. There were no guard rails, and it was a tight squeeze. An uncomfortable ride to say the least. But the view. It was worth every inch of the climb. This picture also sparked a memory of a vision someone shared with me recently. She came up to me after a prayer meeting one morning and said she saw a picture of me at the top of a mountain. I had reached the summit and was smiling and filled with joy. She said, "Whatever you've been climbing, you're going to get there."The problem with the climbing I've been doing is I've been trying to do it all on my own, forgetting I can tap into God's power at any moment. His power is the ONLY way we can summit. He is the only ride we can catch to the top. He knows every curve and obstacle we will face. Climbing alone leaves us exhausted and depleted. Our strength alone cannot sustain us. He alone, however, does sustain us. Friend, whatever mountain you're climbing, you're going to get to the top. If God called you to the mountain, He will help you scale it, but you HAVE to rely on Him. Wait on God to give you your next right step. Listen for Him to tell you where to place your hand, where to place your foot, and where to look. It might be an uncomfortable climb, but you are getting closer to the view. And do you wanna know a secret? The heart of God IS the view. He is what we’re climbing to. Don’t let a dream or idea become your summit. May God always be the beauty we are climbing to see.
